SUMMARY OF POSITION Power Connect Systems Qualified, Experienced, Trade tested artisan with a minimum N3 technical qualification and a minimum of 3 - 5 years electrical experience in all types of projects and maintenance.
The candidate will be responsible and should have the minimum electrical skill, knowledge and background as stipulated below. The electrician does not design electrical systems but will be responsible to identify potential risks and problems in the design.
To be successful as an electrician, the candidate should be able to read, understand and be able to drawn electrical circuitry / systems. The candidate will be required to recommends improvements, as well as calibrates instruments, and diagnose faulty equipment. The candidate will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting circuitry, working from a technical blueprint. To perform in this role the candidate needs experience in the field working on simple and complex electrical systems.

ELECTRICIAN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (COMMERCIAL AND OTHER)
Electrical Installations
- Assemble and install electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Test electrical installation according to installation code 10142-3
- Inspect transformers and circuit breakers and other electrical components. Repair as required to ensure that all systems are fully operational.
- Be involved in all aspects of installation of electrical equipment inclusive of alternative supplies.
- Setup and configuration of the above alternative supplies to a fully working and operational system.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
- Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
- Construct and fabricate parts, using hand tools and specifications.
- Good knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
- Mechanical working knowledge. Generator repairs and maintenance.
- Traceable working knowledge and experience in Generator installations and repairs a definite requirement.
- Traceable working knowledge and experience in uninterruptable power supply installations and battery replacements a definite requirement.
- Traceable working knowledge and experience in renewable energy field. Installation of inverters, lithium batteries and PV a definite requirement
- Traceable working knowledge and experience in renewable energy field. Setup and configuration of battery management systems a definite requirement.

Electrical Maintenance and Repairs
- Maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Perform maintenance repairs of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Corrective maintenance.
- Fault finding on electrical systems.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.

Compliance
- Assist with commissioning of all types of installation and the finalization of compliance.
- Assist with Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Current electrician's license and identification card must at all times be maintained to meet Department of Labour regulations and will remain the employee’s responsibility to supply Powerconnect Systems with an updated licence at least one calendar month before lapsing.
- Excellent working knowledge and applying of the South African Occupational Health and Safety Regulations
- Excellent working knowledge and applying of the South African National Electrical Code and local building regulations.
Team Supervision
- Lead, direct and train staff members to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Provide assistance during emergencies in hours, after hours, weekends and public holidays.
- Ensure installations are completed on time. Ensure work is completed in accordance with the project plan, job schedule and planned timelines.
- Ongoing personal development and on the job training.
- Ensure that the team members takes care of and maintains their provided PPE kits.
Data Installations
• Installing Cables
- Identification of suitable cable routes on site (Planning)
- Accurate measurement of routes. (Limited cable wastage)
- Understand the plan as communicated by Team Leader (Vision)
- Understanding fibre optic cables, and the practises of correctly installing fibre optic cable. (Bend radius & figure 8)
- Cables marked and labelled correctly before they are installed.
• Network Points
- Numbering and layout of network points is done logically.
• Looming and Lacing
- Basic understanding of the cable markings on the cable and their meaning. Copper & Fibre
- Cable looms are measured and cut accurately before they are installed.
- Lacing of looms on trays and in ceiling boards are done correctly.
- Spacing and tension of straps on looms are correct.
- Exposed cable looms on Wall Mount Cable Trays are correctly laced.
- Correctly lace and loom the Cabinet to the Patch Panel.
• Skirting and Trunking
- Correct selection and use of hand tools. Measure and cut with hacksaw. Use of Set Square. Spirit level
- Neatness and cleanliness of finished installation. Filling and touch up where required. Installation wiped clean.
• Terminations
- Clear understanding and identification of A & B Spec.
- Termination of Patch Panels are done according to set specifications.
- Accurately terminating to disconnect modules.
- Correct termination of wall outlets. Understanding the implications of incorrect termination practises.
- Cable skin distance, maintaining twists in pairs, cable pair nicks.
- Correct mounting of wall outlets. Use the correct fastening material for the surface you are mounting on.
- Wall Mount Cabinets are mounted securely and level.
• Testing and Fault Finding
- Able to do fault-finding, trouble-shooting and repairing of faults.
- Basic tester reading, understanding the display. Identify a fault condition on the tester.
- Able to test installations to Level 1 specifications, basic wire map and length.
- Use of markings on the cable to locate faults.

Administration
• Electrical
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
- Assist with all normal workshop tasks if not on-site including assembling, building, wiring / testing electrical equipment.
- Prepare sketches or follow blueprints to determine the location of wiring and equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes
- Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous and rectify the situation to ensure full operations
- Provide preliminary sketches and cost estimates for materials and services.
- Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment from designated procurement office.
- Document operational activities and write reports for site-based activities
- Responsible for safety and housekeeping (on site client sites, organization and workshop).
- Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment to complete work as per specifications.
- Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
• Company Property
- The condition and maintenance of tools and equipment (drills, splice machines, testers, ladders etc) are safeguarded at all times. Tools/Equipment is not lost or damaged and is routinely maintained and cleaned.
- Completeness of toolboxes and toolkits, including hand tools. Tools are not lost or damaged and used for the correct applications. Ensure that tool checklists are completed regularly.
- Cleanliness and tidiness of company vehicle. Vehicles are not damaged (dents and scratches) and the necessary maintenance and upkeep is done.
• Documentation and Processes
- Responsible for ensuring the stock that has been issued is correct for the installation that needs to be completed (check stock before leaving the office)
- Responsible for ensuring effective return of stock once an installation has been completed
- Ensure that timesheets are submitted for each Job timeously. Overtime correctly submitted.
- Provide WhatsApp Updates on site arrival, departure, issues, and project status.
- Complete and submit Vehicle Inspection Sheets.
1. Daily: Complete Vehicle Inspection Sheet.
2. Monthly: Submit all completed Vehicle Inspection Sheets and Travel Logs to the Fleet Adviser or Branch Manager.
- Responsible for ensuring that H&S documentation (risk assessments and reporting near misses) is submitted continuously.
- General care and maintenance of company PPE

ELECTRICIAN JOB REQUIREMENTS
? Minimum. Grade 12 or Equivalent Certification (NQF Level 4).
? Electrical Certificate from a technical college. Minimum N3. (Any EW SETA certification).
Must be submitted as part of CV.
? National Technical Certificate 4 (NQF Level 5 will be advantageous)
? No Criminal record
? Trade tested artisan with a minimum N3 technical qualification. Trade test certificate must be submitted as part of CV.
? At least 3 to 5 years working experience as an electrician a definite requirement.
? Working towards an electrical wireman’s qualification would be advantageous. Submit course details as part of the CV.
? Full understanding of SANS 10142-1 (Wiring of Premises)
? Full understanding of OHS Act (Occupational Health and Safety)
? Valid unendorsed driver's license.
? Traceable, working knowledge and experience in renewable energy field. (Inverters, Solar, etc.)
