GAAP Point of Sale is recruiting an Assistant Regional Infrastructure Manager for the JHB and CPT regions. The position is based at our offices in Midrand and the successful applicant will be reporting to the National Infrastructure Manager or their nominees at GAAP where applicable.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Infrastructure Manager: JHB & CPT will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Infrastructure Support employees for the Midrand & Cape Town branches. He/she will be responsible to ensure all Infrastructure problems are addressed and handled within these branches in a timely and professional manner within the processes as defined by the National Infrastructure Manager.

List of Responsibilities includes, but is not limited to:

Management: -

· Manage staff, day-to-day queries and tasks related to JHB, CPT and responsible regions’ infrastructure. Report and escalate to upper management. Assist and provide training to staff, including promoting teamwork.

· Conduct regular visits to GAAP’s offices and regional branches for inspections and advise on any recommendations that may be required.

· Manage quote approvals and orders placed, ensuring the correctness and validity thereof and whether within budget. Source quotes and place orders on any equipment needed to provide relevant support to GAAP.

· Manage staff leave, leave requests, and sick days.

· Utilise Microsoft Teams to keep the team informed. Set up and maintain Team channels and convey important information to the team and organisation.

· Set up and conduct performance reviews of staff members. Provide accurate and true performance totals and motivate staff in areas of improvement.

· Assist and mentor staff on GAAP’s infrastructure related queries and workings.

· Be available and assist staff on standby to resolve any issues that may arise and escalate where and when required. Monitor and address after-hour calls logged.

· Makes recommendations to the National Infrastructure Manager regarding Infrastructure systems (additions, deletions, and major modifications) and executes upgrades and changes as directed by the National Infrastructure Manager.

· Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages.

General: -

· Monitor and assign tickets, log tickets before doing the work, provide regular updates of the tickets with progress of work done, update tickets with proper information of work done, and solve tickets on completion of work.

· Install and assist in the installation of servers, networks, hardware, and software, including any infrastructure, and to the region’s branches, and the monitoring and maintenance thereof.

· Set up, configure, and maintain pfSense Firewalls. Backup and restore firewalls. Escalate any configuration changes to the National Infrastructure Manager.

· Ensure backup solutions are in place for hardware and software, e.g., server and database backups, and ensure hardware backup stock is available. Spot check on the daily backup lists and verify backups with the Backup Specialist.

· Manage and maintain the PBX Systems. Create extensions and add extensions to the queues. Liaise with Call Center Management on their needs and queries.

· Monitor and maintain generators. Ensure weekly drop tests and required checks are done, e.g., oil & water levels. Arrange for the refueling of the generators, including the diesel reserves. Ensure yearly major services are conducted on time.

· Ensure the access control system is in working order, perform general maintenance of the software and issue tags to new staff.

· Ensure the CCTV system is in working order, perform general maintenance and installation of cameras and software.

Minimum Requirements and/or Competencies:

· Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience. Minimum of 10 years.

· Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems including Linux (CentOS/Red Hat/Oracle Linux).

· Expertise in data centre management and data governance.

· Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration, network security and network installation including 10GB network.

· Management Ability to manage personnel.

· Be prepared to work long hours, after hours and be on standby.

· Qualification or degree in one of the following fields:

o Information Technology

o Computer Science

o Management
