Yusuf’s skill set comprises experience to competently activate services and maintain quality of service to customers, ensuring fault resolution is achieved to customer satisfaction and ensure that network availability and performance levels are maintained. In addition, this skill set is further enhanced to include technical consultation to customers, marketing experience and the ability to effectively utilise my verbal, presentation and written communication skills. Strong personal traits include problem-solving ability and the ability to operate both as part of a team and unsupervised. I possess a flexible and task- oriented attitude with a dedication to customer service. Effective interpersonal and negotiating skills have been successfully harnessed towards building effective and productive working relationships with clients, vendors, staff and management. Yusuf Adjiet has more than 3 decades of hands-on experience in the ICT arena. Starting in the early 1980’s as a computer operator on the huge Burroughs and IBM centralized computer systems in the financial sector. In 1987-8, I opened and managed my own, IT support business, that serviced the SOHO and domestic market. I had to close later as the economic environment changed and business could not be sustained. Then later in the 1990’s he joined the private Medical Pathology Services as a data administrator and technician. During this time, he became an integral part of the foundation team setting up the first tele-medicine network in the pathology arena (Lancet & DSP-Voigt,) and also managing the Novell Networks of the business. Then in 1998-99, he joined MWEB at the start of the internet boom in South Africa. Much if his past and current knowledge base was enhanced during this exposure to the WAN landscape within ICT. My first major success, was identifying a huge discrepancy in TELKOM/MWEB accounting system, which lead to an overall 65-70% saving on MWEB’s Telkom bill(+/-R35million). Further highlights during time include the establishment of more than 60 POPs (Point of Presence), around South Africa and neighbouring countries, where MWEB subscribers would then dial in, through a modem via Telkom analogue line to access the internet, and also Project Lead for WAN Satellite connectivity for MWEB South Africa, via UUNET and OrbLynx, Global Internet in the USA. In the new century 2000, he was promoted to manage to NOTSC - (Network Operations & Technical Support Centre of MWEB). In 2005 he joined the WCG (Western Cape Government), as Chief Network Technologist and was immediately tasked to advise and lead the network infrastructure project for the roll of HIS (Health Information System) at all the major health facilities within the Province, having more than 20 technical professionals and administrative personnel, reporting to him. He also assisted to the roll out of infrastructure and services for FPS (Forensic Pathology Services) unit, across the Western Cape. Specifically, he was seconded as an advisor of the renewal health network infrastructure on the West Region in the period 2008-2010. He was also a Steering Committee member of the Dept. Social Development’s Modernization Project during the same period. Yusuf served on 2 Change Approval Boards (CAB) for the Dept. of Premier and provides support and technical services to Health & Social Development Cluster (HSD), since 2017 till Jan 2020, when he left the public service, to join an existing family business with his brother, however due the Covid-19 crisis the business could sustain all employees. It is for this reason that I’m seeking alternate employ in the ICT sector again.
