I’ve been a bit of a wine fanatic for most of my life, but when I retired as a Physics Professor from the University of Stellenbosch, I was able to immerse myself in the wine industry commercially for about 12 years. I opened the Eikestad Vintique wine boutique in Stellenbosch in 1999 and exported wine for a number of years (until 2010). Subsequently (2007) I became a national tour guide and did quite a bit of wine tourism. I am also a national tour guide and is qualified to do most provinces. Apart from selling wine, I enjoyed giving talks promoting wine and generating enthusiasm for the product. I would like to return to working in the wine industry, promoting and selling wine, or working in a tasting room, in a part-time or full-time capacity. I currently live in Somerset West.
