Currently i work as a Cargo Operator for the largest international shipping company Maerskline. My experience here has been so tremendous and wide that i have to say I learnt such alot. Each day is a learning experience. I am able to work under immense pressure that i have never experienced previously. I work on numerous systems all at once so working fast, accurately and under pressure is a skill i have mastered. I deal with national and international stakeholders. Working for Maerskline is like being in a rat race every single day. The knowledge i have gained with regard to different ports and countries has been enormous and incredibly interesting. My previous experience includes working as a admin clerk where I acquired very strong administration skills which includes filing ,data capturing, answering calls, updating registers, dealing with queries, UIF forms, scanning, faxing and various other administration duties that came up each day. My work here was done in a manner that was an asset to the department. My contract ended and my manager took me back as the Administration Officer to run the EPWP (Expanded Public Works Programme) for various areas in Western Cape. This is a project that helps reduce unemployment and poverty by giving temporary jobs to people. As admin officer I was responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the entire project for numerous areas of Western Cape from start to finish and also the seasonal projects. I dealt with various types of people from the uneducated less fortunate to other admin staff, area managers, depot staff ,sub-councils, service provider ,Head of department ,managers and ward councillors. I have excellent communication skills. I worked under tremendous pressure as multiple projects had constant deadlines that had to be met. I am able to work fast and accurately. I worked on the database management system at both my previous jobs so I have a lot of experience with this system. I coped really well and enjoyed my job with the different challenges presenting itself each day. I had to make decisions and work independently as well as be part of a team of admin officers that assisted each other wherever we could. I dealt with contracts regularly to ensure all is in order. I have strong computer proficiencies in MS Word, MS Excel ,MS PowerPoint and E-mail. I learnt to be flexible and accommodate the changes of the department . My problem solving skills are excellent as I dealt with conflict with the EPWP workers and I would manage to sort it out quickly and effectively. I am able to learn fast and adapt easily. I am the type of person who ensures that I go the extra mile and any task is done to the best of my ability.
