I am an enthusiastic hard-working young African man. I enjoy fixing things and developing solutions to problems effectively. The field of Economics allows one to think system optimisation, and that is what resonates most with me today. In High-school, I only chose the science related subjects as electives, because I felt that they were the most challenging and interesting. I enjoy a challenge. I have always worked hard for my results and I feel that my perseverance is one of my strongest points. In my post-graduate studies, I found myself enjoying modules that implemented statistics, but mainly the application of it to research. This is what interested me most. During this time, we continuously focused on regression analysis in order to assess statistical and economic significance in assignments and tests. I wrote my final year thesis (main research assignment) on a possible Debt-to-GDP growth ratio tipping point in a South African context, using qualitative and quantitative data to arrive at my conclusion. This type of research approach has always interested me: sourcing the data, deciding on an appropriate method, running regressions, and generating conclusions that are statistically and economically explainable.
