I am a Civil Engineering Technologist working as a Superintendent but Acting at a Depot Manger for the Roads Infrastructure and Management Transport Directorate (District 2 and 5) During the past five (5) years with the City of Cape Town, significant experience has been gained in the field of asphalt surfacing and Maintenance work programs. I have conducted a few panel inspections for the local and some metro roads reseal programme in District 5, guided by the Pavement Management System (PMS). Over the past five (5) years I have also been involved in the implementation of ward projects, planning and implementation of the weed spraying (herbicide) projects and a member on the BSC Tender: Vegetation/Weed and Fungi control and road marking projects. I have also been involved in various other infrastructure projects like the construction of retaining structures, storm water infrastructure (storm water intakes, open channel, culverts, rivers and dams) and sidewalk related projects such have gained valuable experience in the management of the depots budgets. I have also shared my input into some contract document related issues, walkway and step to and from cape town beaches. I am proficient in SAP and As a Technologist I have volunteered to assist the Project managers with the professional maintenance teams, support technical assistants within District 2 and District 5 for the Transport Directorate. Assist the Project Manager to plans the compile schedules of candidate projects and based budgets for the maintenance, rehabilitation and minor capital works for catchment, storm water and river infrastructure. Implements Maintenance, Refurbishment and minor Capital Works projects. Assist with the wayleaves inspections before issuing of permits to service authorities and contractors requesting the right to work close to or to Storm water infrastructure by ensuring minimum disruption and/or compromising of structural and functional integrity of the Storm water and River infrastructure/ assets During my employment period with Stefanutti Stocks Marine and Mokwena Construction, I have worked extensively on quality control according to the project specification, SANS 1200A, SANS 1200C, SANS D, SANS 1200G, AND SANS 1200M. Which revolves around pavement design and rehabilitation of urban and rural road projects. I have also been involved in the installation of Bulk water pipe lines (up to 2400mm), sewer and storm water management and related infrastructure and community based (labour intensive construction) projects, budget projection for Major and Minor Projects. I performed duties in assisting the Project Manager on Major City of Cape town / Transnet Jobs where I was required do various road construction jobs and was involved in the in-depth investigate of the project specification, Bill of quantities and tender documents. Site supervising was one of my main functions.
