I am Somila Matsheke. I completed my studies in the year 2020 through the Durban University of Technology. I am now a proud graduate and holder of a National Diploma of Accounting. The modules covered in the course over the years include Auditing, Commercial Law, Financial Accounting, Management Accounting and Taxation, just to name a few. I am currently studying towards obtaining an Advanced Diploma of Accounting through the same institution, through their online learning program. Some of the modules included in the course are Advanced Financial Accounting, Advanced Taxation, Advanced Financial Management and Advanced Auditing. I have been a member of Qhakaza Ladies network (a group on campus which aims to empower young women to strive for excellence in the corporate world), since my first year at DUT. I have also been a member of Green Campus Initiative (a group on campus whose main objective is to keep a clean environment on campus and in surrounding areas), since my first year at DUT as well. While studying I also worked part time as a promoter For Gold Circle. My duties for that job included adherence to Gold Circle’s dress code (for Soccer Picks, TabGold and Track and Ball Gaming), facilitating and attending events to promote the brand and represent the company (Gold Circle’s golf days, sponsored events and promotions in various Gold Circle outlets), assisting clients with queries, traveling within and outside the region for Gold Circle promotional events, reaching mobile sales targets, driving sales up through effective demonstrations and explanations of mobile products, setting up and arrange displays at the venue to attract the attention of prospective and existing punters, registering new customer accounts and submitting FICA registration documents when opening new accounts, keeping my work area neat and tidy to promote a positive image to customers, and also ensuring appropriate safekeeping and maintenance of equipment and inventory received.
