I have 20years experience in Retail, 16 years being in Management. I worked for two retail companies Shoprite and Cambridge food with monthly sales of R4m to R10m per month, my duties were to make sure the following points were in line on a daily basis. 1. Opening and closing the store 2. Manage all departments in the store through department managers and supervisors. 3. Running the main store and the Liquor. 4. Managing over 100 employees. 5. Ensure customer care excellency. 6. Attend to customer complaints and queries. 7. Placing orders. 8. Dealing with out of stocks. 9. Drive sales in the store. 10. Instore marketing. 11. Insuring promotions are executed as per company standards 12. Ensure Departments maintain GPs. 13. Merchandizing. 14. Receiving checks. 15. Minimize wastage and shrinkage. 16. I started my career in 1999 with Shoprite as a General assistant, and through hard and determination, I was appointed as a Trainee Manager in 2003, during my training I have done store revamps, store relaunches and new store openings, I completed my training in 2005. In 2005 I was appointed as a Fresh Food Manager for Shoprite Hillbrow, where I made sure that fresh produce was available at all times and the Deli was functioning as required. I performed weekly stock taking and ordering and receiving stock.2008 I was appointed Store Manager at Shoprite Malvern, were I got the opportunity to run my own store. I had to run the store with limited management staff (I had no fresh food, or receiving manager), but I managed to turn the store around into positive sales and profit, reduced waste and shrinkage by being hands on, on a daily basis. A year later in 2009 I was promoted to open a new store in Ebony park. I managed the store successfully, reaching set budgets, managing customer queries and staff conflicts.
