A recent graduate, eager and passionate about maritime law. I learned about Maritime law as a career path from a panel I attended while getting my LLB degree at University of Fort Hare. My interest was uplifting when SAIMI hosted a seminar on Strategic Objective 4 that stipulates its role as a catalytic, influential and leading maritime institute, a conference themed Forward Thinking for Maritime Education and Training Excellence. A panellist who spoke on the panel and discussed the skills and attributes necessary to be a successful Maritime lawyer. He mentioned curiosity, communication skills, and creativity. I consider those strengths of mine and thought this sounded like a great fit. Since then, I have sought experiences that have helped me build upon these skills. This past year, I did my master’s degree in the Law specialising with shipping. I especially enjoyed learning about their new business ideas and helping them reach their goals. I am excited to help clients with their Shipping needs in a similar way, and hope to do just that at a large South African law firms, however I have to start here as. Shipping law consultant.
