Shaveer’s working profile comprises more than 10 years combined experience, and spans across retail as well as private and state institutional pharmacy. A seasoned UKZN graduate, Shaveer is well trained in pharmaceutical stock management and GPP implementation at Primary Healthcare and district hospital level. Employed in 2016 as a grade one pharmacist in Northdale Hospital Pharmacy, Pietermaritzburg, Shaveer successfully created and implemented an impactful internship programme for over 12 pharmacy interns (a programme which is still active to this day). In addition to this, he has participated in various quality improvement initiatives such as waiting time studies and Anti-Microbial Stewardships. His other professional experiences include Life Hilton Private Hospital and Alpha Pharmacy Scottsville, which further enhanced his experience. In 2018, Shaveer completed a Clinical Pharmacy course with the University of Cape Town and the M.I.C. and ventured into the world of Clinical Pharmacy at Midlands Medical Centre Private Hospital. This role allowed him to interact with patients and healthcare professionals, which afforded him the opportunity to gain a wider understanding of healthcare and provide more comprehensive care and counselling to patients in both retail and institutional settings. He is known as confident and effective communicator with prescribers and other healthcare professionals on a one-to-one basis and in larger groups, such as the Continuous Professional Development (CPD) trainings which he was tasked with presenting. Upon completion of his contract as Clinical Pharmacist, Shaveer ventured out to various institutions as a freelance locum pharmacist. This afforded him the opportunity to work with various pharmacy managers, gain exposure to varied styles of management and understand different methods of budget control. In September 2019, Shaveer was head hunted to join the Parklane Pharmacy Group as a pharmacy manager of their Musgrave Branch and a business associate. In July 2020, Shaveer had been approached by the Alpha Pharm Corporate Retail group to fill the position as Pharmacy Manager of their Burger Street Branch.
