I obtained Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry University of Calabar, with a master’s degree in environmental chemistry from University of Lagos Nigeria. I am currently a PhD student in the school of laboratory medicine and medical sciences of faculty of health University of KwaZulu Natal South Africa. As an Environmental Health Scientist, I am very much aware that Africa and world at large, in attempt to keeping up with the developmental challenges and trying to meet the high demands of the growing population; has exhausted its many resources resulting in severe environmental damage. Some of the environmental issues that affect the world today include land degradation, water pollution, solid waste pollution, air pollution and deforestation. The environmental damage affects not only the population's health, but also the species that live in the area, while also contributing to the global issues of climate change and the corona virus that has shut down the entire world’s social and economic activities. I recently worked as Senior Research Assistant at Renewable Energy Program, Federal Ministry of Environment where I actively headed the Research & Development activities of the department. My roles evolved from the development of the Rural Energy Access Program (REAP) which was aimed at ensuring affordable and sustainable clean energy access to the rural poor and reducing black carbon emissions to being actively involved in the Rural Women and Energy Security where over 1million rural women in Nigeria were equipped with clean energy technologies/alternatives. I have been involved in Nigeria’s efforts towards the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG) as well as short lived climate pollutants both locally and on international platforms like the UNFCCC & Climate and Clean Air Coalition. I was involved in preparing the first policy document on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency as well as the Action Plans for its implementation in Nigeria. I have also worked as Environmental Consultant to Ravenwell Power Nigeria Limited where I assisted in registering and initiating all processes involved in establishing independent 50-100MW of solar plants across different states in the Northern part of Nigeria through the regulatory agencies involved. I have vast knowledge in tackling Short Lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) which was the core mandate in forming the Climate and Clean Air Coalition http://www.******.*** the fact that mitigating Short-lived Climate Pollutants (SLCPs) is critical to addressing climate change in the near-term, health and environment impacts from these potent pollutants. Nigeria became a State Partner of the CCAC in April 2012 and was appointed the Co-Chair of the coalition in July 2012. The coalition has 48 State partners, 52 non-state partners, 8 Intergovernmental Organisation including the Stockholm Environment Institute, World Health Organisation, the World Bank and UNEP. I was a senior research assistant to the Co-Chair and was responsible for handling most initiatives of the coalition in Nigeria which include methane reduction from the agriculture/livestock manure management, reducing black carbon emissions from heavy duty diesel vehicles/engines and the brick initiative etc. It is no longer news that women and children die annually as a result of illnesses related with indoor air pollutions. In the spirit of continually improving my skills, I have obtained an extensive training on Managing Big Cities in Ecole D’Nationale Administration (ENA), Paris sponsored by the French. I have also assisted Cloneshouse Nigeria in handling some M&E jobs for Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) where I Coordinated, supervised and evaluated hand pump well water projects of JICA in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Rural water Supply and Sanitation Agency in Kebbi, Niger and Taraba states Nigeria. I have good knowledge on waste management which includes solid waste, liquid waste, air pollution, recycling and clean energy generation from waste. My master’s degree research thesis was on Analysis of Physicochemical Parameters of drinking water produced in Lagos Nigeria. I have also received trainings on Environmental Impact & Social Assessment (EISA) which entails the process of evaluating the likely environmental impacts of a proposed project or development, taking into account inter-related socio-economic, cultural and human health impacts which could be positive or negative. He has experience in developing strategic plans, work plans, human resources, and administrative policy. I am an excellent team player, always ready for challenge, work very well under pressure. I possess the skills, knowledge and essential experience for carrying out projects where initiative, innovation and quick decision-making skills are required. I possess very strong critical analytical skills, a positive can-do attitude with proven track record of delivering results well within agreed timescales and have been known to set new records with regards to service delivery. I have excellent work ethics and a personal brand of providing excellent service, exceeding set targets.
