I am a hardworking individual. Life has kind of thrown a lot my way but I'm still surviving. I am a 21 year old South African living in South Africa but has never experienced the benefits of being a citizen because I do not have a birth certificate or an ID. This hasn't stopped me from being ambitious. In March this year I launched my online fashion store Bondye Bay which is Haitian Creole for God's Will. I think that everything that happens is God's will and it happens at the right, appointed time. I only got the chance to apply for my documents WITHOUT MY MOTHER this year, in May. My dad, since he's the one that raised me, tried by all means to get these documents for me but they always wanted my mother and since we didn't know her whereabouts, there was no way forward. Well, until this year. After a long process of going to and from the hospital where I was born, my first primary school and high school, they eventually requested a DNA test between my dad and I and it came back positive. That was the last step in proving that indeed I am South African, born and bred here. My documents are due to come out in September and boy, am I excited! Having said (or written) all this, I know what not having something means. I know how I feel when someone speaks lightly of their ID when I don't have it. One thing I know for sure is, lacking something so important taught me to appreciate the little things I have in life, the chances I'm given. My CV is dull honestly because I have no qualifications, no work experience, not even Matric. All that will change when I get my documents because I realize that I'm starting my life later than my peers, which means double the effort from me if I wanna catch up with, or pass them. Having me on your team may seem like a bit of a risk really, like who hires someone with no qualifications just because they say they've got what it takes? Sometimes having what it takes is all it takes to get the job done. I'm also a fast learner so forget repeating the same thing over and over again. I'm a good communicator, work well with others, follow orders easily, a hard-worker. Please give me a chance to add my flame to your fire. Thank you for taking your time to read this.
