I have completed my National Diploma in Environmental Health in 2018 and graduated in 2019, from the Durban University of Technology. The three year undergraduate program in Environmental Health formed the basis of my perseverance towards achieving an in-depth knowledge in the field of Health and Safety. As part of my diploma, I studied various subjects relating to diverse aspects of Occupational Health and Safety which includes the physical, chemical, biological and ergonomic stresses that employees may be exposed to, as well as relevant regulations from the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, such as Noise Induced Hearing Loss, Hazardous Chemical Substances, Lighting and Ventilation, to name a few. I have knowledge of the SANS 10083 (Noise) and 0114-1 (Lighting) codes. I also believe that the experiential training from my studies has prepared me for both the office and industrial environment. Furthermore, I am computer literate and familiar with most Windows based applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.). During the past couple of years, I have taken the initiative of working part-time alongside my studies in order to gain work experience, albeit not in the related field of study. This has given me the ability to work both individually and, in a team, with various types of people and this has helped me develop a thorough insight into the working world and has given me constant incentive and confidence to improve myself for further growth. An integral part of my growth has been the value system imbibed in me by my family, teachers and mentors and as I embark upon a new stage of my life, I believe that an internship/employment will provide a milestone in my career along with invaluable experiences that will allow me to become a successful and innovative professional.
