I'm a video editor based in Cape Town, South Africa. I started off as a copywriter, but found myself drawn to film. I studied Cinematography and Editing at AFDA School of Motion Picture Medium in Cape Town. After graduating I went to work on feature film, series and commercial sets in the camera department. There I learned what goes into creating a story through the lens and loved it. I wanted to take that love to the post production side though and five years later I found myself at the editing desks. For the past two years I've been working for a production company (Wyrd Films) cutting together episodic television (23 and 46 minute episodes) from the raw footage phase straight through to onlining, sound and grading. I also worked closely with the filming teams to help develop and improve the entire process where needed. The shows also contained multiple graphic elements which I have experience with. All final products were delivered to broadcast as well as online platforms. In my last few months there I started working on freelance commercial projects and have since gone completely freelance. While working for Wyrd Films I became skilled at running extremely neat projects on tight deadlines to produce top quality content ready for broadcast. In my second year there I was promoted to Managing Editor over our team of editors. I work fast. I work neatly. I work efficiently. I work in Premiere Pro, After Effects and have some Audition know-how. I can also grade in Davinci if that is preferred. Though my freelance commercial work is limited, I believe my background makes me a perfect fit to join any creative team. A bit about me personally. I have always been drawn to the communication and media realm for the love of storytelling. I like experiencing and learning new things on a constant basis. I'm adventurous and enjoy the outdoors. I have a firm belief in a good work life balance as the one feeds the other. When I'm not working, I am either in my wood and ceramics workshop creating with my hands, or walking about in search of interesting new things to feed my inspiration. My mental food is philosophy, psychology, culture, design and anything that gives insight into how we humans function in the world. Though I enjoy time by myself (one has to, to do editing), I am an outgoing person and enjoy working with and around people. I feed off the energy in a room, and believe I also add to that energy.
