I started my career as actor on stage and screen, before moving behind the camera. I started my filmmaking career making documentaries, before completing an MA in cinematography, specialising in narrative filmmaking. I’ve worked as the cinematographer on numerous award-winning shorts, documentaries, commercials, music videos and an international indie feature film, The Bones on Greenwich Shore. My work has been screened around the world at various international festivals, including Hot Docs, BFI Flare, Nashville Film Festival, DIFF and I have worked on content for an array of broadcaster, including HBO, Showmax, SABC and Silwerskerm. In 2020, I worked as the cinematographer on the hybrid animation-documentary short, I am Chuma, about a queer artist living on the streets of Cape Town, which won “Best Cinematography” at both the Canadian Cinematography and the European Cinematography. I am equally comfortable working on big sets, as I am working on smaller, scaled-down shoots: whatever it takes to get the story.
