Oyama Makubalo Cover Letter My name is Oyama Makubalo and I am currently pursuing a 3-year Bachelors’ Degree course in Public Administration at the University of the Western Cape, (currently in my 3rd year). If anything, one thing my degree has taught me so far is how to deal with people as well as quite a few problem-solving skills. How to think on my feet and the importance of being able to put people first. I have also learnt quite a bit relying to the role of public servants. I was also lucky enough to be chosen as one of the Candidate Fellows of the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation 2019, which is my greatest achievement thus far. This I can deem as the first step towards starting my journey as an upcoming entrepreneur, the Foundation deliberately places us in spaces that force us to think creatively in order to solve problems that are on the rise. I am an individual who always strives to set an example in all that I do. Hard worker who knows that to get the best outcome, you must invest your blood sweat and tears. I am always opened to learning new things and I constantly place myself in environments that help challenge my mind because I enjoy the joy of gaining new knowledge I fell in love with the degree because knowing what the government actually should be as opposed to what it currently is made me want to be the one to correct their wrongs. The effort of one person alone may not undo all the wrongs that have been done over the years, but it would be a good place to start. With this degree I want to go into public policy making to make sure that our people are taken care of. To assure that there are consequences for people who commit crimes at the expense of others and have gotten away with them over the past few years. Within my degree, I majored with in Public Administration and Information Systems in order to familiarize myself with the tech side of things as we move closer and closer to the Fourth Industrial Revolution. I am a young tech savvy individual who has come to understand that technology has become an important part of our daily living. I am constantly refining each and every day, what I have to offer in this world. I would love to gain experience within the public sector in any way that I can. I am willing to start from the very bottom and work my way all the way to the top. I am very quick to adapt and I am a fast learner. I have experience with computers, and I work well with people too. I am also an aspiring young black female entrepreneur who started her very own business of making and selling homemade ginger beer. I started Niki’s Ginger Beer in October 2019 and since then I have grown tremendously as an individual and through my business I am constantly learning how to deal with people and how to better take care of their need. I have become better at problem solving and I continue to learn new things every day. I have grown as both and individual and an entrepreneur. I look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you.
