I work to transform the delivery of water through applying innovative approaches focusing on sustainability and efficiency. My aim is to aid the development of dynamic rural communities operating their own water and sanitation services with the support of local municipalities or external service providers. I initiated the first South African public-public partnership in the country for the management of water and sanitation services, which culminated in a four-year management contract between Rand Water and what was then Harrismith Local Municipality. I strive to build more efficient operating capacity for government institutions, developing institutional models and guidelines to promote sustainability in the delivery of water and sanitation services. I apply my experience as a utility manager, project manager, and lead engineer to improve efficiencies in local government for sustainable service provision: ★ Managing grant funded projects up to $3 million ★ Cost and tariff modelling to support sustainable services under varying scenarios meeting the requirements of Government policies ★ Optimizing systems to achieve desired outcomes ★ Setting up operational processes to facilitate change management ★ Policy development ★ Budget development for municipal services ★ Implementing technologies for automated water balancing to enable informed decision making based on reliable data ★ Identifying and implementing non-revenue water interventions My work with HR departments for planning and development in the Water and Sanitation Sector supports job creation in communities to assist in service delivery, including building capacity and transferring skills to meet identified objectives. I bring my leadership skills to bear in ensuring stakeholders are engaged and committed to the implementation of policies and plans, coordinating and mentoring staff to build on their potential.
