I work in the construction industry and I have previous experience as a bookkeeper at a law firm and as a trainee accountant at bookkeepers/tax consultants. At my current work place, I compile monthly management statements where comparison of expenditure is done against income claimed on projects (BOQ – bill of quantity) and the analysis of subcontractor payment certificates. Invoicing of certificates for payment. I am in charge of the accounts payable department and handle all aspects involved with accounts payable as well as overseeing two staff members. From opening accounts on the database to capturing, reconciling and submission of payments and age analysis. I have also negotiated payment terms and settlement discount. In addition, I also do the intercompany bank allocation and reconciliations. Concerning asset and plant accounting, I analyze the fleet and plant expense and allocate the fleet and plant costs to the applicable contracts. I also update the fleet and plant list and update the allocation of fleet vehicles and heavy and small plant. Create orders for purchase of vehicles and plant and for the repair and maintenance of the vehicles, plant as well as properties. I have assisted in the depreciation and sale of property. Learning new abilities and building on my knowledge is not only an asset for myself, but also to my employer. I enjoy figuring out new accounting programs or any other computer related program. I am very analytical and enjoy the challenge of figuring out complicated financial scenarios and resolving errors or queries. I work effectively and take pride in my work. Excel and Word are two programs, which I use on a daily basis, and I am confident using both. I have obtained my National Diploma: Financial Accounting (NQF 6) and look forward to continuing my studies towards my degree. I am also Xero and Quickbooks Online certified.
