I am a self-driven individual with a strong background in administrative support and management. My most notable position in administrative support is that of Executive Secretary to the Executive Mayor of Rustenburg a role which required extensive interaction with community members and political and administrative heads. Working in an executive office requires the ability to interact with people of varying backgrounds in a professional and dignified manner whilst still achieving Aligned to my position. As the highest ranked administrative secretary in the institution, this leadership role required that I support and manage other secretaries within the institution, particularly those serving the Members of the Mayoral Committee. Further to my administrative background, I am a Mandela Washington Fellow (Leadership in civic engagement) and communication Science graduate apt in qualitative and quantitative communication research methodology and communication strategy development, implementation and monitoring processes. Pertinent to the study of communications is understanding how it aids in positive social development within all facets of society. Effective communication is thus the bedrock for advocacy and lobbyist movements across the world and has been proven to aid in instilling new ideas and changing perceptions. I was privileged to have worked as a junior media planner responsible for major south African brands such as McDonald’s South Africa. As a media planner, I developed extensive knowledge on how to plan, implement and monitor media campaigns in line with a brands vision and objectives within a set media budget. Clients such as McDonalds further required a holistic understanding of the McDonalds business strategy as to ensure that media campaigns implemented at a national level align with the international brand image. Through this role, I developed a strategic thinking acumen and learned to consider threats and weaknesses in the environment with the potential to harm or distort the objectives of a sound media plan. With my communications and media background, my strength lies in the ability to creatively develop and implement brand and media campaigns serving a particular purpose using all platforms available to me. Attached with my CV is a bio of work I have engaged in. I currently serve as a policy development coordinator within the Rustenburg Local Municipality. A role which has taught me how to develop new policy and develop sound implementation strategies which can be monitored and controlled. In this role, I am required to hold regular housing consumer workshops with existing and new housing consumer and share any policy changes, as well as educating housing consumers on old and new housing programs offered by government.
