I was, among other, involved on the Thubelisha coal mine project from start to completion. This project was my case study for registration at ECSA as professional engineering technician (Pr Techni Eng). Part of the project was a new overhead line with a substation and medium voltage switchgear. The 11kV and 400V reticulation was designed, managed the installation and commissioning. My exposure and commissioning experience on medium voltage equipment goes as far back, as my employment with ABB Powertech. I have extensive experience in MV Switchgear, selection of the equipment, installation and maintenance. I also have experience in electrical machines such as motors, generators, transformers, variable speed drives and soft starters (MV & LV). I also completed various courses and training on Photovoltaic Systems and Thermal Heating. I commissioned electrical equipment on coal fired power stations (including the 800MVA generator transformer and the 400kV switchgear) and have extensive experience on power generation in general. I have vast experience in project management, commercial acumen and adjudications on projects. EPCM and EPC projects, both green - and brownfields were managed. I have experience on petrochemical plants, hazardous environments (Zone 0, 1 and 2 areas) and intrinsic safe electrical equipment in these areas. Various courses were also attended for these type of environments. In addition to my electrical knowledge on electric motors I also have vast experience on the mechanical side of rotating electrical machines. This includes vibration monitoring, bearing selection and troubleshooting/repairs. Failure investigations were also conducted. I have been involved with customer service in excess of 20 years. Experience in measuring equipment and calibration of such equipment was gained at South Africa Bureau of Standards. Good understanding and interpretation of local and international specifications was gained. Since obtaining my Wiremans license in 2014, I have been involved in issuing Certificate of Compliance according SANS 10142-1 : 2008 (wiring code), for Residential Premises and Industries. This include installation of equipment and rectifying faults on existing installations. I passed the exams for Master Installation Electrician (MIE) My experience with a mining/industrial supplier together with my experience in technical adjudications with tender documents, during my time at an electrical consulting agency, gives me a good understanding when compiling quotes for projects and in general. Vast knowledge of the South African mining and industrial industry was obtained. I have immeasurable experience in reporting, both verbally and in writing. My writing skills were further enhanced with the draft of technical specifications for tender purposes. I have passion for my work and success.
