Addendum to short PROFILE of CV As a little girl I loved books. I could sit for hours paging through them, just looking at the text and pictures and feeling the paper. This love bloomed into becoming my biggest passion to date: books and graphic design. Since starting my career as a publishing intern, five years ago, I have developed personal and professional skills at a speed that could make one’s head spin. I advanced from being an intern to manager of a publishing division in four years. My work ethic, ability to keep a cool head amidst (sometimes) stormy situations, intuition, integrity and thirst for knowledge have greatly supported me in this. You would ask “why did you leave the position as publishing manager?” The answer is simple: I don’t see myself managing a scholarly publishing house forever. Scholarly and academic publishing, for me, would be limiting, especially in terms of my passion for design. The creative process is what feeds my soul. Conceptualising a brand new design for an annual report of a major university, or a new logo for a local business around the corner, is what I love. Book design (including typesetting) and graphic design remains my first love, although it will not deter my ability to manage and understand day-to-day business within the creative industry.
