I am a “hands on” Operations Manager (4 years management) and 8 years courier experience. I have strong leadership skills and I believe in leading through example. My value system and ethical behavior is of a high standard and to lower any of my standards is not negotiable. I believe in great teamwork and as the leader it is my duty to develop, educate, mentor, train and build a team where my values and that of the company are carried out. I believe in respecting each other and for that reason I work and communicate well from the lowest level up to the highest level. In my current position I report directly to the Managing Director. In order for me to have success through the day I use my planning and organizing skills to ensure the correct fleet number and size are allocated. The planning and organizing for the day needs to be adapted as well as there is always some unforeseen circumstances. I work closely with the supervisors in the team to ensure that we all are in agreement of what needs to be done at certain times during the day. Other duties includes attending management meetings (internal and external), problem solving, holding investigations, taking disciplinary actions against employees, interviewing candidates and managing the CSD team. With regards to reporting I do an analysis of what was delivered and collected against where we failed, this is part of my KPI (Key Performance Indicators) report. I also do some budgeting reports and oversee the invoicing process for parcels delivered from us for the 3 different courier companies. I do all investigations where stock is missing, short delivered or possibly stolen. I was the SHEQ chairman and am actively involved in Health and safety. I also ensure that the policies, procedures and standards are carried out. I believe in making use of the latest technology available in order for the drivers to get a pod recorded and to communicate better. I’ve worked in the IT environment for many years and I love to learn all there is to know about each system. That way it can be utilized to its fullest potential and shortcomings can be identified.
