Since then I have used the package in many many projects ranging from small pumps stations and desalination plants to up-market residential township developments. Projects completed: Kerzner Estate at Leeukoppie, Kenrock Estate, Hillcrest, and Hanging Meadows, all Hout Bay, High Steenberg and Silwersteen in Tokai. All projects taken from conceptual stage with professional teams including Town Planners and Architects to completion of construction of full engineering services; roads, water, stormwater, communication and security ducting. Documentation, Project Specifications, Quantities, Payment Certificates and Claim Adjudication. Co-ordination and Setting Out I have determined and issued for construction the setting out x, y and where appropriate z value co-ordinates for many structures outside of the normal township development requirements. Some of these include the pumping main and sewer pre-treatment building of the Hout Bay Sewer Scheme, the reclaimed water pipeline from Zeekoevlei Treatment Works to the Steenberg Golf Estate for irrigation, the toll plaza and the two concrete structures on the Chapman’s Peak Drive rehabilitation, a 14 metre high bridge for a mine in Malaysia. Pipework Detailing of steel, uPVC and HDPe pipework. I have determined layout and detailed pipework in various pumpstations and desalination works ranging from PetroSA Desalination Plant in Mosselbay to sewer pumpstations and borehole treatment facilities in hospital grounds in accordance with the Day Zero alarm. In addition to the township development reticulations, I have detailed long pipe runs such as the reclaimed water pipeline from Zeekoevlei Treatment Works to the Steenberg Golf Estate for irrigation, the pumping main of the Hout Bay Sewage Scheme and on-site connectivity networking for the hospital Municipal water / borehole water layouts. I have produced Pipe Schedules for all of these projects and liaised with Contractors through to completion of construction stage. Reinforcing I have detailed many reinforcing layouts and I have produced many Bending Schedules for many structures and I have yellow lined schedules for others. All of these projects have been one-off elements with very little repetition of details. With the drawings being produced in AutoCAD, my bending schedules have all been purpose derived by hand using an Excel Spreadsheet – I have not yet had exposure to RebarMate, Pad or any other automated software product. Civil services to Commercial Developments Along with Town Planners and Architects, I have designed and detailed many external civil services to commercial developments. These include associated car parking layouts, garage access, water, stormwater and communication and security ducting. Final levels and layouts in conjunction with landscape Architects. On Site Supervision I have been Engineers Representative on several multi-million projects and have supervised the majority of my smaller project sites on an ad hoc basis, going to site at intervals and when required to resolve particular Contractor queries.
