I have spent the last 14 years in a customer-facing role, working with key clients from initial contact through to delivery and post-event closeout of their projects. This was done largely while working independently, seconding in resources as required, to deliver as per my client’s requirements and needs. I have handled day-to-day interactions, project managing all facets of their projects, assisting with their marketing and brands through solutions proposed, facilitating operational components of delivery, conflict resolution, problem-solving as well as servicing their individual clients to their organization’s standards. A large part of ensuring success on these projects was ensuring the fundamentals components like administration and the relevant documentation were always up to date, as well as a keen eye for detail. My relationships with clients are viewed as a trust-based partnership, the more value we add value for them, the better they do. The better they do the more they will rely on us and we do better as a result. My number one rule is to hope for the best, but plan for the worst. I follow the management and team principles espoused by Simon Sinek and am constantly looking for new ways and ideas that will assist me to improve on all aspects of my service offering. My “Why” is “assisting others to achieve their goals, and in so doing achieving my own.” I believe in spending time getting to know and understand both my colleagues and clients so that I can adapt my management style to be the most appropriate for each scenario. I prefer not to micromanage, as diverts my attention from the bigger picture. I believe in mentoring and growing the resources around me so that they can achieve their full potential and will always make time for those who are keen to learn and grow.
