I am a driven, ambitious, qualified chartered accountant with more than 10 years’ post-articles experience. I bring a combination of strong technical skills (financial accounting, financial management, taxation, internal controls, financial analysis) and strong interpersonal and networking skills (able to effectively lead, manage and inspire a team of finance staff, as well as form good working relationships with people at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders). Quality and excellence are what are strive for with any assignment I take on. I am able to think strategically, holistically and critically, while also paying attention to detail. I spent more than 10 years with the same group of companies, initially as the Group Management Accountant (3 years 10 months) and thereafter as General Manager Finance - a position I was in for more than 6 years. I was responsible for a group of companies with an annual turnover of +/- R1.2 billion. My experience covers a broad range of finance disciplines, these being: monthly management reporting and variance analysis, year-end financial reporting and annual financial statement preparation/review, monthly and year-end group consolidations, tax calculations and reviews, internal controls, working capital management, foreign exchange risk management, budgeting and forecasting, strategy formulation and execution, staff management, stakeholder relationship management, risk management, capital structures and funding and information technology. Most recently, I held the position of Head of Department: Revenue Accounting, for a company that processes sales and revenue transactions in excess of R22 billion per annum, with a staff complement of 87 people in the department.
