I am Mechanical Engineer (Engineering Council of South Africa candidate engineer) with a strong background in machine design and analysis. I have been working for a startup engineering consulting firm (Wawa Solutions Pty Ltd – http://www.******.*** since 2019, and also in the process of acquiring my doctorate. I have experience in machine component modelling, design and analysis. Machines of interest include gearboxes, conveyor systems and accessories (pulleys and frames). My work entails: • translating client requirements into specifications for machine component design • performing design calculations for component sizing • modelling of components using the relevant software (typically Inventor) • finite element analysis to verify usability and functionality of designed products I also have interests in condition monitoring and asset management systems, focusing on: • assessment of machinery and selection of relevant sensors for data acquisition • development and implementation of software platforms that allow operators to: o monitor machine behaviour based on preset alarm indicators o identify faults (bearings, gears, etc) o automatically generate reports from the platform for further diagnosis purposes and maintenance scheduling I also have experience in the following areas: • Vibration analysis and condition monitoring • Automation, data acquisition, data analysis and signal processing (LabVIEW and Matlab) • Component design (Solidworks, Inventor, GD&T), structural analysis and testing (FEM – Patran, Marc, Nastran and SimExpert) • Optical measurement techniques (photogrammetry and laser vibrometry)
