To whom it may concern, I studied and graduated with a ND:Horticulture at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. During my studies, I gained a year of experience through in service training: one semester at The Upper Liesbeek River Garden and one semester at The Royal Gardener’s Nursery. Due to unforeseen circumstances I was unable to complete my studies as scheduled and started working at Mediclinic Hermanus in 2016. In 2019 I could finally finish my Diploma all while being promoted from Reception Administrator to Theatre Dispensary Controller. Now, this is far removed from horticulture, but I have gained valuable experience in many key areas. The medical industry is one of high stakes and big responsibilities. My current duties include: • Creating and managing systems utilized to keep record of products used ; • The billing of products used; the management of billing sheets (personalised to doctors and procedures); the replacement of products used; • Corresponding between doctors, the hospital pharmacy, the theatre unit manager and medical company representatives; requesting new products; arranging and managing trials of new products that become available; the arranging of training for staff when a new product has been put in usage; managing medical representatives’ presence in the operating theatre; • To have an extensive knowledge of the computer system used in Mediclinic and a clear understanding of all the applications used in theatre dispensary controlling; • The management of stock losses (wastages, expired products, etc.). I have learnt a lot about customer care and service, anticipating needs, planning ahead and managing situations of crisis. Even though I appreciate everything that I have learnt and gained while working for Mediclinic, I have always had a passion for nature. I am very excited to start my career in Horticulture. I have a special interest in finding thrifty and efficient ways to approach activities essential to the day-to-day operations of a company, utilizing resources to their full extent. In 2015 I received the Cape Horticultural Society award for the Best Performing Horticulture Student of the previous year. I am a passionate and driven person. I take on every task entrusted to me with determination, enthusiasm and accuracy. If given the chance, I am sure you will not regret making me the latest addition to your company. Thank you for your consideration, Barbara Louw
