A built environment professional of 20 years, I have 15 years of experience in project, portfolio and programme management. I practiced as an architect for 7 years with with exposure to the public and private sectors, including a year spent at a large commercial firm in Dublin, Ireland. A year at the Construction Industry Development Board, a statutory body, solidified that construction procurement is where the future success of every project is determined. Concepts such as value-based procurement, life-cycle costing, and the triple bottom line were integrating into construction business management principles. As the Developer’s PM for the Airports Company of SA, I interfaced between the infrastructure end-users & the design-build teams, my task to ensure the Client got best value from all providers in the supply chain. I undertook a turnover of €220M & delivered 300,000 sqm of new build, but the wealth of my experience came from the complexity of the Airport environment & the diversity of Projects I worked on, viz: - €160M Terminal building - Baggage-handling Equipment Workshop - CCTV Upgrade project - Petrochemical projects - Airside Service Road Most recently, as architect for MINUSMA, the UN mission in Mali, I delivered a new 500sqm MHQ Building in under 5 months which was just in time for the SRSG to welcome a visiting delegation of the UN Security Council.
