I am a highly motivated and dedicated 25-year-old Black African female. I have completed 2 years articles as a candidate attorney and have a further 5 months post article’s experience as an in-house legal advisor. In addition to my experience in the legal fraternity I have over 5 years part-time work experience prior to my qualification. I am currently employed as an in-house legal advisor in a fast-growing music and entertainment company in Durban. In my experience as a legal advisor who often works remotely I have developed strong self-reliance and high level accountability. In addition to my strong work ethic and values I am an articulate individual with strong sense of integrity, confidence and resilience. Obtaining my LLB degree while employed part time in different sectors such as being a general worker at a resort and also involved in vacation programmes is an indication of this. Despite the pressure I was faced with during those years I managed to finish my degree and secure articles few months after completing my degree. In my experience employed as a candidate attorney at a law firm in Port Shepstone I have developed my legal skills including litigation skills in the district Courts. My experience in this firm included drafting of pleadings from letters of demand to summons, serving and filing notices, having settlement negotiations and drafting the agreements. I have developed strong advisory and reporting skills as one of the responsibilities of a candidate attorney include reporting to clients on given mandates. My experience in litigation in the past 2 years have strengthened my mediation, negotiation and overall communication skills which I consider to be vital for a strong employee in an organization. In my current position I am responsible for vetting and drafting contracts. My duties also include corresponding with third parties and drafting media releases, I also ensure that the company complies with any expected contract deliverables. As part of my final year of study I was part of an outreach programme at Denis Hurley Centre for the homeless in Durban. This gave me exposure to many human rights violations and has sparked my interest in the empowerment of people through human rights awareness and advocacy. My interests in justice and victim empowerment have influenced me to start my own blog http://www.******.***.com and YouTube channel Asanda N which are platforms where I provide awareness and empowerment using the laws of our country. This sets me apart from others as I possess an ability to implement programmes that empower victims, I am well driven and ambitious about human rights. All I have mentioned above displays that I am a diligent person who believes in satisfying what is obligatory of me. I am open to learning and to constructive criticism, as I believe it later produces an asset and resourceful individual for the work sector. I am intrinsically a hard-working person with experience in working with people from many walks of life including the homeless. Therefore, you can be confident to appoint me in this position and give me the opportunity to practically affirm my hard work and dedication.
