To whom it may concern, An analytically minded logical thinker, I excel at problem solving and am eager to brandish my skills in the exciting world of software development. As an explanation of my CV – I left Matric with distinctions in Mathematics, Science, Biology and Technical Drawing, and was accepted at Stellenbosch to do Engineering. I did not pass my first year, and then went to the University of Pretoria to do a Bachelor of Science, while working part time as a maths and science tutor at Master Maths. Due to personal circumstances, I only managed to pass the second year of my BsC. Demotivated and demoralised, I discontinued my studies. I continued working full time as a maths and science tutor at Master Maths, and eventually became a manager there. Though Master Maths taught me patience, communication, and the ability to convey knowledge to others, it was not my dream and did not fully make use of my capabilities. Last year I decided to refocus my goals, and with new confidence completed online courses in Java. I used this skill set to do various basic freelance projects and further develop my skills. I then completed a software engineering bootcamp at Sandton-based programming school Hyperion Development, at which I was the fastest learner. I have also completed ___ courses through online learning platform Udemy. I am re-enrolling in University in 2020, to finally complete my BsC part-time through Unisa. Though I may have had a rocky start, I am passionate and dedicated and have found that software development is my niche, and a field I feel I will truly excel in. I believe in life we all have failures, but what matters is how you get up again. As my Hyperion Development mentor will attest, I also possess great interpersonal skills, which is rare and very useful for a developer.
