I would like to start off by introducing myself. I am a 30-year-old man from a small town in the Free State province in South Africa, Kroonstad. I completed my studies in Potchefstroom and moved to Johannesburg to do articles. I got married in November 2017 and was blessed with the birth of my first-born son in 2020. I completed my articles at a small auditing firm in Illovo, Sandton RAiN Chartered Accountants. Upon completing my articles, I stayed on with the firm as an assistant audit manager for a few months. I then got an opportunity to join WBHO as a financial accountant in the Roads and Earthworks Division for East Africa. I left WBHO at the end of January 2020 to return to RAiN as an assistant manager. In November 2019 I wrote the Professional Accountant (SA) board exam and was accepted as a member in March 2020. My reason for leaving WBHO was two-fold. The travel was too extensive (with my wife being pregnant at the time) and RAiN headhunted me, as one of my previous supervisors returned to the firm as operations manager. She believed I would be of great assistance to grow the firm in line with the vision of the director. It was the right move for me at the time. Now that we have laid the foundation and, in some ways, manage to achieve our objective, it is time to close that chapter. Since completing my articles, I have always been troubled and held back by the fact that I did not qualify as a Chartered Accountant. In some ways, my failure as knocked my confidence and self-belief. But I have done some work on myself and I am well on my way to making a success of my career. I may not be qualified yet, but I will out work and out skill my peers. As a matter of fact, I will dominate. I have registered with CIMA to get my qualification as a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). I am writing the Management Gateway Exam in July. After passing this exam I will have the final level (Strategic Level) before I qualify as a CGMA. I believe that this qualification will add value to both myself and the company as well. I trust that this introduction has given you some insights into the person I am and what I can do for the company.
